Bursaries
Short Course Bursaries
For each Public Anthropology short course, we offer two bursaries, where the short course fee is subsidised by UCL. The bursaries are the Four London Boroughs Research/Practice Development Bursary, and the UC Research/Practice Development Bursary.
The two bursaries are for those who can evidence a specific connection between the course content and an aspect of their current research/practice, and fit in one of the following; either living in one of the four boroughs: Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest, or in receipt of Universal Credit.
- Four London Boroughs Research/Practice Development Bursary (Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest)
This bursary is reserved for those who can evidence the course content sharing a direct correlation to an ongoing piece of academic research, or practical project: such as film, fine art piece, digital media/audio work, publication or installation, and who also can evidence living in one of the four boroughs listed above.
What is it? | Who is it for? | How do I apply? |
A free place on one of our short courses, subsidised by UCL’s department of Anthropology. | Someone living in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest, who has a research-based or practical connection to the content of one of our short courses. | Submit an application form here and provide evidence that you live in one of the four East London boroughs, and an overview of your research/practice. |
(We are also open to considering more interdisciplinary and abstract ongoing outputs such as activism, and curation of an exhibition/event/festival). These places are limited, and students can only make applications for two bursaries per person, per academic year – so use your opportunity to make a compelling case for how it aligns with your work/practice.
