News: Open City Documentary Festival 2020 – Juries Announced

Alongside the announcement of our plans for the digital festival, we are happy to confirm the jurors for the film competitions at Open City Documentary Festival 2020.

There are four film competitions for 2020, including the new International Short Award. Each has a cash prize attached.

The jurors for the Open City Award will be: chair Susana de Sousa Dias (filmmaker: 48, Fordlandia Malaise), and Ehsan Khoshbakht (curator, filmmaker: Filmfarsi), Joanna Natasegara (producer: Virunga, The Edge of Democracy), Genevieve Yue (academic, writer, programmer).

The jurors for the Emerging Filmmaker Award will be: chair Julian Ross (researcher, curator, writer), Dessane Lopez Cassell (curator, writer, editor), Jessica Sarah Rinland (filmmaker: Those That, at a Distance, Resemble Another, Black Pond), and Rehana Zaman(filmmaker: Your Ecstatic Self, Tell me the story Of all these things).

The jurors for the UK Short Award will be: chair Rhea Storr (researcher, filmmaker: A Protest, A Celebration, A Mixed Message, Junkanoo Talk), Claire Marie Healy (writer, editor), Lawrence Lek (artist, musician, filmmaker: AIDOL, Geomancer), and Lindsay Poulton (Head of Documentaries, The Guardian).

The jurors for the International Short Award will be: chair Jeanelle Augustin (curator, editor), Jay Bernard (programmer,  writer: Surge, The Red and Yellow Nothing). Joseph Fahim (critic, programmer), and Juan Pablo González (filmmaker: Caballerango, Las Nubes)
