Speaking Truth to Power

The documentary film has a long history of calling attention to injustice, giving voice to the oppressed, and demanding change, but is political cinema still alive and well today? This panel will bring together filmmakers who are using non-fiction to speak truth to power to discuss their creative process, how to balance journalism and art, and strategies for creating lasting impact with their work.

The discussion will be hosted by Jessica Edwards, Director of Impact & Partnerships at Doc Society, and the panel will include Johanna Hamilton (1971), Lucy Parker (Solidarity), and Lorna Tucker (Westwood: Punk, Icon, Activist).
