Undocumented: Film in the Archive & Film as Outreach

The New Black Film Collective and London’s Screen Archives present a session that will delve into absence and representation in London’s moving image archive collections.

Archives across the capital are telling the story of London and Londoners over the last 100 years through their film & video collections, but there are still many voices missing from these narratives, including London’s Black communities. This session will feature panel discussion and archival footage, and will explore Undocumented, TNBFC and London’s Screen Archives’ project to address the lack of Black representation in London’s moving image archive collections.

Founded in 2013, The New Black Film Collective exists to create and cultivate a vibrant Black ecosystem in the UK film and TV sector by championing Black-led film production, distribution, exhibition and preserving Black filmmaking and television. Managed by Film London, London’s Screen Archives are a network of organisations across London with a collective vision – to preserve and share London’s history on film. Undocumented is delivered with the support of the BFI, awarding National Lottery funding.

In partnership with The New Black Film Collective and London’s Screen Archives.
