Open City Documentary Festival x Sisu – Friday Night Party

Event has passed Rich Mix (The Stage),

Dance into the weekend with us as we celebrate 15 years of Open City Documentary Festival. Music will be provided by Sisu – a community providing a platform to educate, inspire and showcase aspiring women and non-binary DJs, producers and behind the scenes roles.

The DJ lineup includes:

Chickie @evacouliba
Jolted into motion by the addictive rhythms that pulse from Senegalese nightlife, Chickie’s sonic style pays homage to the electronic innovation of the African diaspora, peppering early Detroit sounds with spooky vocals and rogue melodies. As a DJ and researcher based in London, she has cultivated her sound to take dancers down an explorative path of collective trance, rebellion and curiosity, from Bristol to Brixton and Berlin.

Calaida @_calaida
Regardless of the genre or style of music, Calaida is all about creating a feel-good atmosphere. The DJ, producer and musician draws influences from a multitude of genres, including soul, hip-hop, jazz, house, and afro/latin sounds. Highlights include sharing the stage with the likes of De La Soul’s DJ Maseo, Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Killah Priest, Nubya Garcia, and Mina, and performing at festivals such as We Out Here and Boomtown. She also co-hosts events across London; with the And What? LDN collective, as well as new club night SUBMISSION alongside DJ/producer Noh Vae. What you’re sure to find weaving through any Calaida set is a soulful, infectious groove; “if it feels right, it’s alright.
