Non-Fiction 07: The Elephant Launch

Event has passed Rich Mix (The Studio),

Join us to celebrate the publication of Non-Fiction 07: The Elephant, guest edited by Elhum Shakerifar. Imagined around the Sufi fable of the elephant, the journal proposes documentary as a process of translation in time, ideas, energies, with singular contributions giving multifaceted form to this prompt. This launch will provide a space to gather to listen in to the ideas at the heart of the journal. So Mayer and Jenny Clarke will discuss their pieces – this will also be an opportunity to see and feel Clarke’s textile translation of Mayer’s essay “A Carrier Bag Theory of Cinema”. Holding the potential of poetry and conversation close, we will screen Chilean poet and artist Cecilia Vicuña’s short film What Is Poetry to You (1980), and Barby Asante will lead a breathing workshop.
Non-Fiction 07: The Elephant features contributions by Barby Asante, Emma Cheung, Jenny Clarke, Abiba Coulibaly, Melek Erdal, Mouna Kasa, Helene Kazan, So Mayer, Momtaza Mehri, Golrokh Nafisi, JC Niala and Mika Ìgai, and will be available to purchase at a discounted price at this launch.

This event is included in the Rich Mix Venue Pass. Pass holders can book a free ticket to this event and all other screenings and events taking place at Rich Mix as part of the festival. More information on the pass can be found here.
