Filmmaking and any talent driven industry have fallen into the trap of splitting people into “emerging” and “established” – where is the middle ground and when does one as a non-fiction filmmaker stop emerging? As part of T A P E’s mission to demystify the film industry from talent development to exhibition, this event will ask who decides what phase we’re in, and is there an official trajectory for filmmakers? With schemes open to filmmakers based on their experience, in this session we discuss the categories filmmakers have to squeeze themselves into, and the age-old question of when do we stop “emerging”?
