Open City Documentary Festival 2019: Submissions Are Open

ratio

Open City Documentary Festival 2019 will take place between the 4th and the 10th of September, running for an additional day to allow for a full weekend of screenings, panels, events and parties.

Submissions for the festival are now open. We are looking for the most exciting and innovative non-fiction storytelling in short, mid-length and feature length non-fiction films, short audio documentaries, as well as cross-platform projects.

This is the first year that audio documentaries are eligible for submission, though they have formed part of the festival programme for a number of years. Also new for this year, Open City Documentary Festival is now a BAFTA qualifying festival for short film. British short films programmed at your festival qualify for entry for the BAFTA award for British Short Film if they have been programmed at one other festival from Section B of the Qualifying Festivals List.

Our prizes are awarded in three categories: Open City AwardBest Emerging International Filmmaker Award and Best UK Short Award. Winners of the feature prizes are awarded a £750 cash prize, with the Best UK Short Award winner receiving mentorship and financial support for festival travel from the British Council.

Find full details and submit your projects on our submissions page. The earlybird deadline is December 21st 2018.
