The Emotional Risks of Documentary Making

Making documentary films often comes with emotional and personal risk attached; yet this is something we rarely discuss, leaving us vulnerable as filmmakers. Whether you are experiencing or filming trauma, juggling difficult work relationships, facing financial instability with creative pressures, or are concerned about the well being of the people you film with – our collective mental health should be high on the agenda. This frank and intimate panel will present a mix of personal experiences from producers and directors within the industry, chaired by documentary producer and psychotherapist, Rebecca Day from Film In Mind. Participation from the audience is welcome.

Speakers include Elhum Shakerifar, Saeed Taji Farouky and Jade Jackman.
