Helena Třeštíková speaks on her impressive career in non-fiction film making, and offers invaluable insight into time-lapse documentary, long term filmmaking, and interraction between filmmakers and film subjects.
Třeštíková is a Czech filmmaker who specialises in time-lapse character studies. Her camera follows her protagonists over the course of several years, even decades, and from this she creates intimate portraits of their lives. One of the first to put documentary in Czech cinema, we are delighted to welcome Helena to talk about her filmmaking methods and her role in shaping new visions for Czech filmmaking.
Her film Mallory has its UK premiere on Saturday 25 June as part of Open City Documentary Festival. It has been 12 years in the making.
